I had the wonderful experience to photograph the birth of one of our best friends’ new baby girl this morning. I am amazed at each and every birth that I photograph and today was definitely no different. This family means the world to us and their older daughter is one of Hannah’s best friends.

The birth was also QUICK!! I was doing a little bit of work this morning before heading to the hospital thinking that, as with most births, it can go a little slow. She had just gone in a couple of hours earlier for an induction. Yes, I should know by now that that is not always the case… and it was definitely not the case today that’s for sure! I got a text from J at 10 a.m. saying “I’m at 8cm and water broke!” I immediately threw on some clothes, grabbed my camera bag and ran out the door. Luckily Shelby Baptist is only a half mile from my house so I was there promptly at 10:15. After snapping just a few shots J was checked by the nurse who said it was time to start pushing! Yes, it was 10:24 at this point- 9 minutes after I arrived! Ten minutes after that the doctor was called in and then at 10:47 Gracie Lyn was here! What a fast, easy birth it was and I am SO glad I got there in time!

Here’s a few peeks into their morning with the arrival of Miss Gracie Lyn- 7 lbs 13 oz.

I met a sweet couple a few weeks ago to document her growing belly- their baby girl who was to due to arrive on September 4th. Baby girl seemed to be just fine in her momma’s belly though and had no intentions of coming out and so she was finally born via c-section today. I was honored to be a part of baby Melah’s birth day and got to spend the day with her proud and loving family. :)

Here’s just a couple of peeks at their sweet new bundle. Meet Melah (pronounced Mee-luh) weighing in at 8 pounds 1 ounce and 20 inches of pure cuteness…

We are having an amazing promotion for birth and newborn portraits. The next three clients that book our birth and newborn collection will get it for only $900. (regular $1250) This includes the birth (an average of 6-8 hours of labor & delivery documentation and a high resolution CD of 60-80 black and white portraits) and your studio newborn session fee with 25 custom birth announcements. ($350 minimum purchase does apply to the newborn session)

Last week I had the amazing opportunity to photograph the birth for a family expecting their first child. I was on pins and needles for the week or so leading up to her due date just waiting for that call… no matter the hour. :) Finally, four days after her due date she went in to the hospital bright and early to begin the induction process. I joined them just a couple of hours later to document the day.

First, let me just say that this mom was a super trooper and went without one drop of pain medicine. I bow down to her. She was extremely calm and pretty darn relaxed throughout the entire labor which was amazing within itself. You are amazing, C!

Here is just a small peek into the labor and delivery of Baby Tucker.

Love at first sight.

It’s the most important day of your baby’s life and we can document it in great detail for you. What did you look like the first time you saw your little one? Who was there? Who cried? Never forget this day or the little details.

You might have read my little story yesterday about my wild and wacky Sunday. I was set to photograph the arrival of Abby Pate who was due at the end of this week. I crammed a lot of sessions into the weekend hoping she’d be like most other “first timers” and be either a) late or b) born right at her due date. WRONG! I got a phone call at 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning that Little Miss AP had other plans for us and was on her way! I packed up and headed to the hopsital since mom seemed to be progressing. Then we waited. I ran out for a morning photo session and then headed back to the hospital for more of the waiting game. You just never know how quickly or slowly it will go… so I was there for the duration!

Finally, shortly before 4:30 p.m. Miss Abby Pate was born. It was such an amazing experience to be there to document this special day for them. The birth of their new love… and believe me, it was definitely love at first sight. I’m so glad I was there to capture it for them.

She amazed me how she was able to keep everyone updated via Facebook!

I had the privilege to photograph the birth of a precious little girl last month and it was such an amazing experience. I have my next birth scheduled for October and I know I’m going to be just as anxious as the parents-to-be waiting on that phone call telling me it’s time to head to the hospital!

I thought I’d share with you all the slideshow I created that documented their special day- the birth day of their daughter.

Wow! What a day! I had the awesome opportunity to go document a special day for some friends- their daughter’s birth day! I spent the day snapping little things here and there and watching the anticipation and excitement of our friends who were about to meet their precious little one for the first time. I just can’t say enough good things about the experience. I am so honored that they would allow me to be a part of such a special day for them.

Danitza labored all day and unfortunately had to go in for a c-section so I set my camera up and sent it in with dad so he could get some of those “first” shots that I would not be able to capture since I was not allowed in the OR. I think he did a good job.

Here are just a few snaps from the day- if mom allows, I will post the full slideshow for you all soon!
